Last night my parents came over for dinner, and for Kaylie's birthday (she just turned nine!). And while we were talking my mom revealed that she hates unloading the dishwasher—she would much rather load the dishwasher than unload it.
Hm. I feel exactly the same way. I hate unloading the dishwasher! But what's really funny is that a little while back Melanie told me the exact same thing—she'd rather load the dishwasher herself and make her kids unload it.
So this sounds kind of like it's just a weird family thing. But Mom also said that she was talking to one of her friends, and the friend said that she hates unloading too!
So I'm curious. Is this a girl thing? Or just a strange coincidence? So, answer my poll on the right—and get your friends to answer it too so I can have a wide sampling.
Are you a girl who'd rather load or unload the dishwasher; a guy who'd rather load or unload?
Could we solve all kinds of social ills by getting the right people to do the right part of the dishwashing?

I LOATHE unloading the dishwasher.
I would much rather UNLOAD the dishwasher! It give me the sense of finishing the job.
I'd rather not deal with dishes at all but since I don't have that choice I'll say that unloading is slightly more appealing because loading the dishwasher means searching the house for dirty dishes and scraping dishes into the trash and cleaning out the food from the sink and then making your hands smelly while arranging the dishwasher. With unloading you are dealing with clean dishes that you do not need to move very far making it a quick and easy job that allows you to get on with what you actually wanted to do.
Richard would rather load and I would rather unload, so it works for us.
I think I could do both and be fine with it. somtimes I would rather do one than the other and other days it's the opposite. right now, I'd rather load it.
I like to load the dishwasher because it means I get clean and clear sinks and counters. Unloading is just a means to load some more. No matter what I prefer, I do it all every time. Dishes is one of the easiest tasks I do. I'll take it over mopping floors every time.
I asked a few sisters at Relief Society last night and the daughters said unload and the mothers said load.
I truly did laugh as I am exactly as you, and the others, HATE unloading the dishwasher… I’d rather load it any day of the week…. Hmm… maybe it’s a phenomena of women as you mention…. :)
